CASE STUDY 21 Executive Outplacement Counselling during Key Moments of Executives' Professional Lives
Each professional project is a true life project. Two somewhat extreme cases illustrate the way in which LEROY consultants help with personal career paths and channel energies:
Making Dreams Come True When it Seemed Impossible Context When the multinational he was leaving offered him outplacement, Louis W. chose LEROY Consultants. Engineer, brilliant education resulting in a Master's Degree in the United States, solid experience, in his forties: his is the profile of a candidate who, in theory, should easily reposition himself in spite of a difficult job market.
Task During assessment, Louis W. mentioned some old dreams: starting his own business, owning a restaurant, living in the sun&He immediately brushed these aside as "pipe dreams", thinking them too out of touch with reality. So he began, with the support of the consultant working with him, a job search in line with his high-level professional career. Louis W. was hardly active or enthusiastic but the plan worked.
He took on a new position, held on for 15 days and then came back to the consultant confessing that it was "just not what he wanted anymore". Sensing that Louis W. needed a total break, the consultant offered to explore the ideas touched on during the assessment. To structure the process, he mobilised BPI's business start-up specialists. The steps followed on from one another and Louis W. finally used his skills for something for which he was truly motivated. The project was quickly set up, validated and financed: our man settled in Saint-Martin where he now manages a restaurant that welcomes 150 guests each day&and he's in the sun!
I Want to Go There and Nowhere Else Context Some candidates approach the outplacement process in both a positive and peculiar state of mind - they've made up their minds about what they want to do and decide to go there and nowhere else. Nathalie R. had marketing experience in the luxury goods industry and wanted to work for one of the most prestigious jewellers in Paris.
Perspectives Surfing between the Role of Counsellor and Coach
Consultants build a tailor-made approach each time. They never act on behalf of the employee. Counsellor or coach, proposing to widen or focus job searches, they adapt to each person and to the various stages of their personal development.
